Artful Living is seeking a talented Managing Editor to join its collaborative, creative team. We’re driven by a shared mission to create an unparalleled lifestyle magazine and digital platforms. This individual will work with all departments to ensure the successful production of our award-winning publication. Our company culture ensures everyone has a voice, feels supported and is always learning.
*NOTE: Initial interviews to take place beginning July 11.
Role/responsibilities:
Manage print and digital content budgets
Manage editorial architecture and calendar for every issue
Collaborate with editorial team on content and design ideation
Manage freelance writers, including assigning articles, overseeing deadlines, processing invoices, etc.
Oversee print and digital advertorial/sponsored content, working closely with sales team and ensuring successful execution from ideation to approval
Oversee print editorial process, guiding content from assignment to editing to design
Execute final production for every print issue, including producing front-of-book pages, reviewing blinkplan, proofreading all content, addressing final needs, etc.
Produce and/or write print and digital editorial content on a regular basis
Provide onsite photo shoot support
Help select quarterly magazine covers
Copy editing and proofreading as needed
Other editorial and creative tasks as needed
Develop strong relationships with clients, contributors and other constituents
Serve as a client- and public-facing brand ambassador at events and in meetings
Qualifications:
4+ years of magazine editorial experience
Bachelor’s degree in journalism or similar
Previous managing editor experience preferred
Excellent ability to manage multiple projects on fast-paced timelines
Excellent verbal/written communication and collaboration skills with both internal team and clients
Onsite photo shoot experience required
Copy editing skills required
Creative problem-solving skills with ability to think on one’s feet
Location: Minneapolis; primarily work-from-home
