As part of our ongoing commitment to support Early Career Researchers (ECRs), PLOS Climate is launching a new editorial board mentorship scheme in 2025. ECR mentees participating in the scheme will be paired with one of our existing editors as a mentor, and will be involved in handling submissions to PLOS Climate in collaboration with their mentor. Additional support and training will be provided by the journal.
The scheme will equip mentees with the following skills and experiences:
Peer review ethics and best practices
Interpreting and synthesising reviewers’ reports
Writing clear and constructive decision letters
Other opportunities open to editorial board members
Importantly, upon successful completion of the scheme, mentees will be offered the opportunity to join us as full members of the editorial board.
We hope the scheme will be a two-way process, with mentors also learning about the experiences and perspectives of ECRs from their mentees.
If you’re an ECR and interested in applying to join the scheme as a mentee, please send a copy of your CV to our Executive Editor Dr Jamie Males by 30th November 2024. Please also include the following information:
Details of your experience as a peer reviewer
