Unbelievable, and my feelings are indescribable. Thank you for reporting on this. What a scary place our world is. –Sarah

Thank you for this. We cannot tell you how outraged we are by this and other examples of egregious and punitive ‘legal' torture. You have our support, and Ella is in our thoughts. We have written perhaps the strongest letter we have ever compiled to our MP, David Smith. It is the fourth time we have expressed our opposition to the Public Order Act to him. –Neil and Gwen

Has the suggestion been made that stopping arming Israel might provide a decent contribution to our own current ‘rearmament drive’?! –John Logan

Ella Ward is a prisoner of conscience – quite why she needed to be held on remand (remind me how few prison places there are), given she was non-violent, is beyond me. Quite clearly the present government is happy to piss away money (it costs money to hold people in prison).

The judge is both an imbecile and perhaps ‘just following orders’ (hmm, I thought that excuse was history post-Nuremberg). This is going to end very badly. Labour (LINO/Labour in Name only) and the Tories have identical attitudes to action on CO2 reductions, i.e. minimal actions.

Airports are politically sensitive areas because the English middle classes like to fly on a regular basis. That is why Ward is being treated like a terrorist – because after all, we can't stop people flying on holidays.... Can we? Vile and disgusting that the judge and the politicians are allowing this to happen. –Mike Parr

What prevented the former Conservative defence minister quoted in the article from dealing with this when they were in the job? –Murray via Mastodon

If US citizens are at risk, could it be from the country's continued arming and support for Israel? Like all countries that will not condemn the genocide and proffer their support, the US may reap what it sows. The West cries out against China and Myanmar over the suppression of religious groups; Palestinians are also a race and religion! –Alan

It doesn't surprise me at all that American – and, indeed, quite possibly British – public safety has been put at risk by the US’s outrageous behaviour ‘on the ground’ by the military and at a diplomatic level, both in Gaza and in the West Bank, which the UK is supporting. Israel’s behaviour is absolutely indefensible, and so is our support for it. –Val Gaize
