Assessment of the Agency’s overpayment reporting finds opportunities for improvement in fiscal year 2023.

The Payment Integrity Information Act of 2019 (PIIA) was enacted to improve efforts to identify and reduce federal improper payments. Improper payments are payments the federal government should not have made or made in an incorrect amount under statutory, contractual, administrative, or other legally applicable requirements. To determine compliance, we evaluated NASA’s risk assessment methodology. We also evaluated implementation of recommendations made in our previous reports.
