A member of the Illinois State Medical Board has been charged by Iowa regulators with violating Iowa’s standards of practice for medical directors.

The charge against Dr. Pedro Rodriguez, a plastic surgeon from Rockford, Illinois, was filed by the Iowa Board of Medicine in late January and was only recently made public.

The board has not publicly disclosed the factual basis for the charge or any of the underlying circumstances that led to the charge being filed.

However, two of the three administrative rules Rodrguez is accused of violating state that the board can impose discipline against medical directors who fail to adequately supervise medical aesthetic services that have been delegated to, and performed by, others.

Illinois state records indicate Rodriguez is currently a member of the Illinois State Medical Board, which regulates the medical profession in that state. Rodriguez has served on the board since 2022, and he has no history of disciplinary action with that board.

Rodriguez did not immediately respond to calls from the Iowa Capital Dispatch.
