Date: 2023-10

Northeast Iowa Community College has placed its president, Herbert Riedel, on paid administrative leave until further notice.

Riedel was placed on leave, effective immediately, after the college’s board of trustees met in three closed sessions Monday that all pertained to personnel matters involving the president, Public Relations and Social Media Manager Tara Cooley said in an email.

“The college has no further comment at this time and has made arrangements to ensure administration and operations of the college are maintained during the president’s leave of absence,” Cooley said.

Riedel was announced president in February 2022 after the college conducted a national search. He previously held positions at community colleges in Alabama and Texas.
