Feenstra is projected winner in Iowa’s 4th District [1]

Rep. Randy Feenstra is projected by the Associated Press to win a second term in the U.S. House of Representatives with 73.8% of the vote over Democratic challenger Ryan Melton, based on unofficial results.
The race was called with 41% of precincts reporting , about 10 p.m. Tuesday. Melton had 24.3% of the vote and Liberty Caucus candidate Bryan Jack Holder had 1.9%.
By Nov. 8, the district had received 78,126 absentee ballots, with 34,394 from registered Republican voters.
Feenstra will continue to represent Iowa’s newly drawn 4th District in the northwestern portion of the state. He unseated former Rep. Steve King in the 2020 Republican primary and went on to beat Democratic challenger J.D. Scholten in November’s general election by more than 28 percentage points.
The Democrat to hold the 4th District seat was Neal Smith from 1973 until 1995.
Sen. Joni Ernst tweeted she’s looking forward to having Feenstra back in Washington for another two-year term.
The 53-year-old congressman resides in Hull, Iowa, in Sioux County where he was born and raised. He currently serves on the House Agriculture Committee, the Budget Committee, and as ranking member on the Research and Technology Subcommittee in the U.S. House. He previously served three terms in the Iowa Senate.
