['Katie Akin', 'More From Author', '- January']
Date: 2022-02
U.S. Rep. Ashley Hinson tested positive for COVID-19, she announced Friday morning.
“Yesterday afternoon, I began experiencing mild, cold-like symptoms,” Hinson said in a statement. “I took a COVID-19 test and the results were positive.”
Hinson, a Republican, said she is fully vaccinated and boosted, and she intends to follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance on isolation. She will be working remotely in D.C. until she is cleared to return to the Capitol.
“My team and I will continue working around the clock for Iowans and I look forward to being back at work, in-person, soon,” Hinson said.
Hinson has had COVID before: She tested positive for the virus in November 2020, soon after she was elected to represent Iowa’s 1st District.
