Report: Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene may attend Iowa State Fair

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a far-right congresswoman from Georgia, plans to attend the Iowa State Fair, Bloomberg reported Wednesday.

Greene has not publicly announced if she will be attending or speaking at the event, which begins Aug. 12. Her campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The Iowa State Fair is a popular stop for presidential hopefuls ahead of the Iowa caucuses. Greene, a freshman representative, has made headlines through her campaign and her short tenure for advancing conspiracy theories, including false claims about the COVID-19 vaccine and support for QAnon.

Soon after Bloomberg’s report, Iowa Sen. Zach Wahls issued a statement against Greene and any Iowa Republicans who stand with her.

“She will use the Iowa State Fair to echo the Iowa GOP agenda of sharing conspiracy theories, spreading misinformation about lifesaving vaccines, and going out of her way to target young LGBTQ people,” Wahls, D-Coralville, wrote.
