The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was established on Dec. 10, 1948 in the aftermath of World War II. Countries around the world created the declaration to serve as a reminder to protect human rights around the world.
According to the United Nations library, the declaration is the most translated document in the world, available in more than 500 languages.
For more information about the event, visit the Boise State University website here .
The Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial in Boise is one of the few places in the world where the declaration’s full text is on public display. The declaration serves as a basis for the Wassmuth Center’s work.
The Wassmuth Center is hosting the event to keep with its mission, “to promote respect for human dignity and diversity through education and to foster individual responsibility to work for peace and justice,” the press release said.
