Gov. Brad Little appoints new member to Idaho Travel Council [1]

Idaho Gov. Brad Little appointed Crystal Nelson, former director of sales and marketing for Marriott, to the Idaho Travel Council as a representative of southeastern Idaho.

According to a press release by Idaho Tourism, Nelson supervises sales staff and is working on strategic marketing campaigns while building industry and community relationships. In the past, Nelson has worked as a tour guide, travel agent and hotel catering sales manager.

As a former military spouse, she has developed an interest in nature and the culture of the communities she has visited.

“I am thrilled and honored to accept this appointment to represent Southeastern Idaho on the Idaho Travel Council,” said Nelson in the press release. “It will be exciting to have an influence and impact on the travel and tourism industry in this great and growing region.”

Nelson has been involved in a variety of Idaho organizations such as the Pocatello-Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce, Visit Pocatello, Pocatello Rotary Club and the Team Depot veterans’ projects.

“Crystal brings excellent marketing and hospitality industry experience to Idaho’s tourism marketing efforts,” said Tom Kealey, director of Idaho Commerce. “She will be a strong regional resource and a valuable addition to our Idaho Travel Council.”

Aside from the council’s primary purpose of advising Idaho’s Department of Commerce-Tourism Development activities and programs, the council also awards grants to applicants of the Idaho Regional Travel and Convention Grant Program. Council members work closely with tourism organizations and businesses on marketing opportunities.

The Idaho Travel Council consists of eight governor-appointed members: seven members each representing one of Idaho’s development regions, and one member appointed at-large.
