Boise Valley Habitat for Humanity opens applications to build affordable home for Idaho family [1]

['Mia Maldonado', 'More From Author', '- April']

Date: 2023-04

The Boise Valley Habitat for Humanity is accepting applications from Idaho families for its affordable homeownership program, according to a Tuesday press release.

The program would allow a low-income family in need of adequate housing to help build and purchase their own home at an affordable cost from the organization.

The Boise Valley Habitat for Humanity plans to build a home in Star on a Hubble Homes lot. The organization will then sell the home to a family who qualifies and is willing to put between 300 to 500 of partnership hours into the project to build their own home. Families must also make a monthly mortgage payment and participate in classes to prepare them for home ownership.

According to the organization’s website, the Boise Valley Habitat for Humanity would not make a profit from the project because it sells the home at a no-interest loan and would build the home primarily by volunteers.
