Idaho State Museum will hold free community event to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month [1]

The Idaho State Museum will host a celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month called ¡Fiesta! on Saturday, Sept. 24, with several community partners, including the Idaho Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Idaho Commission for Hispanic Affairs and the Hispanic Cultural Center of Idaho, according to a press release.
National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 and honors the history, heritage and contributions of the ancestors of American citizens who came from Mexico, Spain, the Caribbean, South America and Central America, the release said. Sept. 15 is the day of independence celebrated by El Salvador, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Honduras. Mexico and Chile’s independence days are on Sept. 16 and 18, respectively.
The ¡Fiesta! event will take place from noon to 5 p.m. at the Idaho State Museum, located at 610 Julia Davis Drive in Boise. There will be performances by Ballet Folklorico Mexico Lindo, Danza Azteca Tonatiuh and Lobo Lara. There will also be hands-on activities, a vendor and resource fair, a bilingual pop-up exhibit showcasing Quinceañera traditions, and food trucks, the release said. The event is free and sponsored by St. Luke’s.
