Rising Voices welcomes 10 Mayan Language Digital Activism Fellows [1]
['A. Sasil Sánchez Chan']
Date: 2022-05-26
Rising Voices is pleased to announce the 10 newest Fellows selected for the Mayan Languages Digital Activism Fellowship Program 2022.
The ten individuals selected from the Mexican states of Chiapas, Quintana Roo and Yucatan will begin an eight-month peer learning process which will include peer mentoring sessions by the Rising Voices team that includes experienced digital activists from these regions. These interactions will help develop leadership skills related to language digital activism in oder to implement their own digital activism projects in close collaboration with their local communities. Each of the selected individuals will share their experiences and progress through regular postings on this website and other channels.
Starting in May, we will begin group and individual sessions bringing together these emerging activists to fully engage with national, regional, and global networks of language digital activists.
After a thorough review of more than 80 projects submitted by activists in the southern region of Mexico for the Program, 10 people have been selected, five from Chiapas and five in the Yucatan Peninsula:
