“My Little Pony” isn’t always about friendship and magic
By Comics, Featured, Featured Comics
Transcript:
Panel 1: A young girl sits under a purple blanket staring at her iPad. Next to her is a small dog. The text reads “when I was younger, my parents gave me their iPad and told me to have fun.” The text continues, “At this point in my childhood, I loved My Little Pony.”
Panel 2: The young girl stares wide eyed at the iPad. The text reads “However, with unrestricted Youtube access, I discovered many disturbing things.”
Panel 3: The iPad screen is shown, and two of the characters from My Little Pony are in frame. Rainbow Dash is seen dead on a table while Pinkie Pie holds a chainsaw. The text reads “There were many videos of my favorite characters killing each other, and that terrified me.”
Panel 4: The young girl, whose color is fading to gray, clings onto the little dog. The text reads “Those videos then got engraved into my brain, and now it has become a normal part of my thinking.”
Panel 5: The same girl is seen, now older and entirely gray. She speaks to someone unseen by the reader: “And so that’s when both of his limbs get ripped off and he bleeds to death!” There is now a close up of the girl’s face. She smiles and is enthusiastic about her comment, “isn’t that fun?” Someone out of frame speaks “No actually, it’s really weird.”
