El Paso kermés schedule 2025: Food, music, community from August to October [1]

Kermés season is back in El Paso.

Dozens of churches across the Catholic Diocese of El Paso are preparing for the beloved summer and fall tradition of hosting kermeses — festive, community-centered events featuring homemade food, games, music and dancing. These celebrations, often organized by volunteers and parish staff months in advance, serve not only as cultural touchstones but also as vital fundraisers for churches throughout the region.

Running from early August through late October, the kerméses draw attendees from throughout the borderland. Families can expect to enjoy regional fare such as gorditas, elotes and raspas, while kids can participate in activities such as raffles, jumping balloons and petting zoos. Many events also include live music, performances by folklórico dancers and vendors selling handmade goods.

While most kerméses are hosted by Catholic parishes, others — including Orthodox and Eastern Rite churches — also take part in the seasonal celebrations.
