Three foundations have offered matching donations on behalf of El Paso Center for Children for Giving Day Oct. 10-17: up to $10,000 by the Judy and Kirk Robison Foundation, up to $7,500 by the Melinda and Meyer Marcus Family Foundation, and up to $5,000 by the Woody and Gayle Hunt Family Foundation.

These community partnerships highlight the importance of the work that the center is doing to support children, families and victims of crime in El Paso County.

“We are excited that the philanthropic community has recognized the impact of our work,” said Beth Senger, El Paso Center for Children’s CEO. “Their partnership is vital in making a real difference every day in the lives of El Paso families.”

El Paso Center for Children began its tradition of service as an orphanage in 1919 as St. Margaret’s Orphanage and has been a support to thousands of families and children for over a hundred years. While services to the community have changed and evolved over the last century, they remain all free, all the time.

Youth and children

The center provides early childhood services including parenting classes, counseling, case management, basic needs assistance, and home visiting services.

The center serves runaway, homeless, and exploited youth in West Texas. It also helps with basic needs, case management, and housing for young adults between 18 and 24 years of age and experiencing hardship.

The Center for Children maintains a drop-In center for youth and young adults ages 11 to 24 who are experiencing homelessness or need other support, along with youth and family counseling. This includes counseling to school-age children and youth ages 6-17 dealing with bullying, abuse, violence, anxiety, and more.

Individuals and families

Individuals and families can find the services that meet their expressed need with system navigation, while parents and caregivers can attend free workshops to relax, reflect, and talk about the joys and challenges of raising a family through free workshops.

A new program for fathers helps build social connections, mentoring to increase financial self-sufficiency, and fatherhood education services for fathers/father figures with children up to age 18.

Victims of crime

Victims of crime, including El Paso County residents of any age who have experienced domestic violence and sexual assault, may access support groups, counseling, and other resources.

It is the center’s mission to empower youth and families to brave adversity and conflict through constantly evolving, innovative, programs in order to co-create a brighter future. The public’s support can make a difference in providing these critical services. Donations can make a difference in helping a child cope with grief and loss, or ensuring a teenager or young adult has a safe place to sleep, a hot meal, and a warm welcome.
