After Hours @ La Nube: Adult Night

Science will meet nightlife during La Nube’s new age 21 and older event series, “After Hours,” from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, at the museum, 201 W. Main Drive. La Nube will transform into a vibrant adult playground. Sip on local brews from DeadBeach Brewery or wines from Zin Valle Vineyards, belt out karaoke hits, and dance the night away while exploring four floors of STEAM exhibits and adult programming. Tickets include complimentary drinks, snacks, a special gift, and access to all exhibits. Admission is $45, or $40 for members. Information: la-nube.org

Conference USA Volleyball Tournament

The University of Texas at El Paso will host the 2024 Conference USA Volleyball Tournament this week and the No. 2-seeded Miners are chasing a berth in the NCAA tournament. UTEP (26-4 overall, 16-2 in Conference USA play) will face Liberty University in the opening round at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, at Memorial Gym, 101 W Robinson Ave. Advancing teams will play additional tournament games throughout the weekend. UTEP Symphony Orchestra

The University of Texas at El Paso Symphony Orchestra will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, at the Fox Fine Arts Recital Hall, 500 W. University Ave. The evening opens with Giuseppe Verdi’s “Overture to La Forza del Destino,” followed by Dr. James Logan, UTEP professor of clarinet, performing as a soloist in Jenni Brandon’s “Fin de la Tierra: Land’s End Concerto,” a tribute to California’s coastal beauty. The program concludes with Ludwig van Beethoven’s iconic Symphony No. 5, a journey from fate’s knock to triumphant victory. Admission is open to the public.

Native American Heritage Month

Celebrate Native American Heritage Month at the El Paso Museum of Archaeology on Saturday, Nov. 18, with a day of activities honoring the traditions and contributions of Native communities. Attendees can participate in pottery painting workshops, enjoy performances by the Tigua Youth Dancers at 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m., and attend a presentation by Carlos Hisa exploring Ysleta del Sur Pueblo’s journey to joining the All Indian Pueblo Council at 2:30 p.m. The evening concludes with storytelling by Alex Mares from 6 to 8:30 p.m. All events take place at 4301 Woodrow Bean Transmountain Drive. Admission is free.

Future of the Magoffin Home

Learn about the $4.1 million restoration of the Magoffin Home during a lunchtime lecture led by site manager Danielle Brissette. This free event, part of the Brain Trust series, will delve into the history of the 150-year-old adobe home and how evolving architectural standards have shaped its preservation. Brissette will outline restoration plans set to begin in 2025, offering insights into methods that will sustain this El Paso landmark for future generations. The lecture takes place Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at 1120 Magoffin Ave. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch. Information: [email protected].
