Testing a new feature: “Blogposts” :-)

For the past few years (decades?) this blog has existed primarily to support macroblogging, putting all my content into one place where it can be better-managed and better-presented than if the content were natively reposted to each-and-every social media platform.

It’s doing a pretty good job of that, but I also want to write stuff about washing machine repair without spamming Bluesky, Threads & LinkedIn with pictures of plumbing, so I’ve made some amendments to the reposter cronjob which will allow me to do that, as well as enabling more flexible, selective feeding of social media at weekends.

You’ll be able to see the non-social-media-feed content, like this, on the blog site and in RSS and on the main Mastodon feed for alecmuffett.com, but not on the mastodon.social, twitter, linkedin, threads, nor bluesky feeds. If you’re on the primary mastodon feed and happen to get annoyed by such traffic, resub to @[email protected] and it will vanish.
