The State of this Blog

So a few days ago I completely nuked and reinstalled WordPress on a new server, with latest everything, on a much bigger Raspberry Pi; I’ve taken the time since to mess with the look and feel, layout, etc.

For several days I tried to use the latest Twenty Twenty Three theme for WordPress, but it looked terrible on Chrome on Android and text kept escaping the boxes; there were significant issues making it look like I wanted, and a layout bug raised with the authors.

Then for a while I tried the popular Astra theme, which looked great but I had to give up when it turned out that it would randomly stop rendering EMBEDs in postings, especially Twitter quotes; that’s not viable for me.

So it’s back to the old theme I go, although it’s now in dark mode and I am gradually tweaking it with custom CSS. It still looks okay, and at least I know where I stand.

The gradual goal here is to use this blog to post ALL content, and then mirror it in various ways to Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Threads, and BlueSky, along with direct feeds to RSS and the Fediverse.
