The funny thing is that you could probably describe the above to a basic European digital activist and they would tell you — recognising NetNeutrality keywords — that it’s a bad idea; yet go to the same activist and say “It Helps European Companies Claw Back Money From Huge American Mega-Platforms” and they would likely support it because American Platforms are Evil™
The “#fairshare” debate in Europe is dead….for now! After a year & a half of having a nonsensical policy shoved down Europe’s stakeholders throats by the Commission & telcos, one by one telecoms ministers are rejecting it in the meeting in Leon, Spain, happening now.
It is important to remember the role civil society played in killing this proposal that was driven by the telco lobby. We have saved NN in Europe for the time being; but the fight is still on!
