I’ve given up counting the number of times that people look at SOME TECHNOLOGY and loudly declare:
WELL, THAT’S OBVIOUSLY MEANT FOR [EVIL PURPOSE] !!!
…when it’s entirely the opposite.
Unpopular opinion: the only way to make significant impact in privacy engineering is to work with, alongside, and even in large corporations, to align their goals and best interests with technologies that enhance privacy for all.
As opposed to, for instance, throwing rocks and lawsuits at them.
