Let's Not Forget What ICE Is Up To [1]

With all the news that been created by Mr. Trump et al. over the last few weeks, the work of ICE has been undiscussed in legacy media circles, IMO. Meidas Touch, which I imagine has quite a reputation (not sure if good or bad) with DKos, put out a video on its YouTube channel yesterday. I was going to use the graphic from their channel, but I thought it was too sensational. All the content, however, is from TV news reports.

A summary:

Oxnard, CA, 9/17/25: ICE brutalizes then kidnaps a parent over the objections of others in the neighborhood.

Chicago, IL: ICE was hunting parents by interrogating young kids, apparently on their way to or from school. The children insisted that they couldn’t talk to the “officers” unless there was a lawyer present. An adult with them apparently took down the license plate number of the vehicle that ICE used, which didn’t appear to be an official vehicle.

Tacoma, WA: ICE arrested, brutalized, and detained a husband for weeks, and wrapped his phone in aluminum foil so he couldn’t be traced. The wife had brought his work permit, and ICE’s response? “ I don’t give two sh*ts that your husband has a work permit or a ‘prima facie’. We’ll do what we want ”.

”. Roosevelt, NY: A high school senior was about to graduate in June from Roosevelt H.S. when he was randomly picked up by ICE while driving home from a grocery store with his guardian. He (no criminal record) has since been detained in TX, where he still is imprisoned. He had left Guatemala at great risk (age 16) after his mother died in 2023, and the father was no longer on the scene. Now, he’s going to self-deport back to Guatemala when he’s released from detention next month.

His school superintendent traveled to TX on his own dime to visit the senior to give him his high school diploma, but was not allowed to do so.

His school superintendent traveled to TX on his own dime to visit the senior to give him his high school diploma, but was not allowed to do so. Chicago, IL: at an ICE raid on a group of day laborers at a Home Depot in SW Chicago, a woman documenting the use of excessive force by ICE was assaulted with a punch to the head. The agents were grabbing one of the day laborers by the arms and legs and forcing his face into the ground.

Van Nuys, CA: The 80-year-old owner of a car wash was assaulted by 3 ICE agents during a raid of his business, receiving broken ribs and a dislocated elbow. ICE detained him and didn’t allow him to get medical help or get medication for an existing heart condition. His workers were subsequently kidnapped, even though the owner had work papers for each of them. ICE refused to examine the papers.

And this was likely only the tip of the iceberg for the last week. Trying times; more trying for some than others.
