Jen Psaki (et al) Please Stop Repeating Trump’s Framing [1]

I suspect this improper labeling is widespread in the MSM, but Jen Psaki last night triggered this response.
Jen Psaki repeatedly used the term “Trump’s political opponents” in referring to Linda Cook , Leticia James and Adam Schiff as targets of unprecedented and unfounded accusations of mortgage fraud. While that term “political opponent” may be applicable to Adam Schiff, Lisa Cook is not a partisan political actor who is being persecuted due to a difference over economic policy. Leticia James is a borderline case, but she is no more of a political opponent in the electoral realm than a multitude of Democratic politicians at the sub-federal level. She clearly is being persecuted for having successfully proven that he is a criminal – in her role as a law enforcement official pursuing an unexceptional application of state law.
As dangerous as it is that Trump is committing unprecedented abuse of governmental power to persecute his political enemies, it should not be overlooked that his also persecuting a professional economist for a disagreement over economic policy, and the law enforcement official who compiled the evidence on which a jury of citizen convicted Trump of multiple financial frauds. Trump is a dangerous to a lot of people beyond his political opponents, and this needs to be emphasized - because Trump wants everyone to treat his persecutions as “normal politics.” And he’s way worse than that.
Trump is petulant and punitive, and he will continue to illegitimately use the powers of government to extend his punishments to those who displease him so long as the courts and politicians continue to enable him. We are all at risk far beyond the effects of his damage to government, polity, public dialogue and the economy. We are all endangered personally and/or through our free associations. He is attempting total “lawfare”
PS As usual with Trump, every accusation is a confession. In this case, IIRC he has already been convicted of fraud in successful pursuit of lower interest rates on his commercial activities. He argued that there was no harm in these misrepresentations since the banks didn’t lose money on those loans. Clearly, if he believes in his defense, there is even less merit in these investigations of his current targets, as it is far from established that any of them actually obtained a below market-rate mortgage. Irony is dead and hypocrisy pretends to be virtue.
