Poll: Who Is the Leader of the Free World Now? [1]

I’ve seen this question pop up again recently, and I’d like to ask the smartest people on the Internet what you think.
I’m in Canada, and their Prime Minister has done the impossible: even the separatist Québécois now support the government of Canada. Mark Carney’s government is on the front line in confronting the scourge south of the border. He has placed national honor above economic interests, promising to go into any US talks with “elbows up”—a hockey term referring to preparing to go in the corner to confront a dangerous adversary. He gets my vote, as Canada has outranked the US for freedom for years.
European Union. Not a country, but they’re mostly far more advanced socially than we are.
I’ve heard some mention France’s Emmanuel Macron as the new leader of the free world, but I always get him confused with those sweet cookies.
Pretty sure this is a joke in poor taste, but someone argued last year that Israel is now leader of the free world. Not sure how anyone can claim that title while simultaneously preventing so many people in its occupied territories from enjoying the freedom to live.
Japan is quite free, although having lived there, it can also be very traditional and even discriminatory.
Switzerland is considered quite free, although neutrality isn’t leadership.
Taiwan gets some support for standing up to China, but having lived there, I’d describe their internal politics as fraught with issues.
Of course, for those who view Vladimir Putin as freedom’s primary enemy, then Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy is on the front line, well deserving the support of the rest of the free world.
The USA. You need dark red tinted glasses to still see us as a leader of freedom globally, but I’ll let you decide.
