Nonviolence is the way. Now, it's more important than ever [1]

Nonviolence works. It pushed back the British Empire in India and brought Civil Rights to America. It works because it doesn’t give the authorities a justification to fight back. Oh sure they might fight back, but how can you persecute people who are just marching or sitting at lunch counters? You can, but not without looking like a tyrant.
The far right is in a frenzy right now, having found their Horst Wessel. Anything, anything politically violent going forward by anyone to the left of Mussolini will be further viewed as an attack by all of us. This isn’t fair, this isn’t right, but it is the world we now live in. And there’s only one way to deal with the temptation to partake in any kind of violence in response:
Don’t.
I’ve seen in recent times memes on social media that imply that violent resistance is the way.
Violence by anyone on our side is exactly what the far right wants right now.
Don’t give it to them.
Oh, and for those who want to what-about-self-defense, that’s not what I’m talking about. Self-defense is a whole other discussion. Neither am I talking about civil wars, which the bad guys can win. No, I’m talking about clear-cut political violence. Don’t.
