Kimmel Alive or Disney Dead [1]

Disney/ABC caving to Trump to suspend Jimmy Kimmel was one step too far for me. I decided to spend an afternoon figuring out how to cancel all of my Disney-related subscriptions.
It’s not an easy task.
I started searching my email for messages with Disney, HULU, ESPN and related horse manure in the subject line.
Once you have a message from one of the companies, you can try to log in to the company’s website. It is best to use a good browser like Chrome. Edge does not seem to be as good at displaying the Cancel button.
If you are lucky, you can remember the password. If not, you can ask for a reset.
Keep looking, usually under Account, until you have had an opportunity to cancel each service.
They do not make it easy. Initially, I sent a Help request to Disney and asked them to cancel all of my stuff. I haven’t seen a response to that now several days later.
As a reward, for your efforts, they usually ask you to tell them why you are cancelling. Go for it.
I did track down an ESPN account, a Disney bundle, HULU and a few others.
I guess I am saving about $50 a month. I’ll go back in two weeks and see if there is more to delete.
Disneyland is not in my immediate plans. Sorry to the grandkids. You really don’t need to play with rats anyway.
My wife and I don’t feel we will miss much. If we want to watch basketball or football, they usually offer a League Pass that avoids paying ESPN. Avoiding Disney movies, rassling, etc. is just another benefit. There is enough streaming non-Disney TV to last anyone several lifetimes.
These corporate executives feel like they can save revenue by caving to bad political actors. Let’s show them that caving on free speech has its costs.
I chose the headline based on a memory of a Teddy Roosevelt comment. Google tells me it was actually U.S. Secretary of State John Hay during the Perdicaris Affair in 1904, with the full message, "This government wants Perdicaris alive or Raisuli dead".
