Trump Is No Longer President of the United States — He Has Become the Dictator [1]

Thanks to Chief Justice John Roberts and the Supreme Court, what was once a presidency bound by law has become a presidency above it. Donald Trump no longer simply occupies the White House. He has become a ruler shielded from accountability, empowered to act with impunity — and that should terrify every American.
Presidential Immunity: A Legal Fortress
On July 1, 2024, the Supreme Court decided in Trump v. United States that former President Trump has presumptive immunity for all “official acts” conducted while in office. More than that, certain “core constitutional powers” are granted absolute immunity — meaning no criminal prosecution is allowed for those acts regardless of how extreme they may be.
These “core constitutional powers” include things like issuing pardons, commanding the military, managing foreign relations, and appointing judges.
Justice Sonia Sotomayor, in her blistering dissent, warned that this decision gives presidents “a king above the law.” She cautioned that it dismantles accountability and allows a president to commit crimes under the guise of “official duties” with no fear of consequence.
Immunity Ends Where Dictatorship Begins
But here is the problem: the Court only ruled on what counts as “official acts” of a president. It never addressed what happens when a president abandons that role and becomes a dictator.
That gap matters. Immunity only exists so long as the president is acting as president under the Constitution. If Trump uses government power as a personal weapon — to punish critics, silence opponents, or enrich himself — those are no longer “official acts.” They are the acts of a dictator, and they fall outside the shield the Court built.
This leaves Trump open to massive lawsuits and new legal challenges. Civil rights claims, state-level prosecutions, even international law could all come into play, because a dictatorship is by definition outside the constitutional order. Ironically, the very ruling that crowned Trump a king also creates a paradox: the moment he stops acting as president and acts as dictator, the immunity cloak slips off.
So here is the bigger question: if the law no longer restrains a man who claims to be president, but he is not acting as one, then who does he answer to — and how long will the American people accept a dictator dressed in presidential clothing?
GOP’s Agenda: Removing Your Rights & Shifting Power
While Trump benefits from this immunity shield, the GOP is pushing policies that further silence dissent and strip rights from ordinary Americans:
The so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” takes away health care from millions, cuts food assistance, while giving massive tax breaks to the wealthiest few.
Another GOP bill would prohibit courts from enforcing contempt citations when plaintiffs lack massive bond dollars — meaning court orders could be ignored without consequence.
Together, these actions show a party not governing but enforcing obedience to Trump’s will. Their agenda is not policy; it is power.
The Real Danger: One Call From Trump Can Ruin Lives
Because of the Supreme Court ruling, prosecutors are already constrained from going after Trump’s role in the January 6 plot. Parts of his indictment were shielded because they were deemed “official acts.”
That sets a terrifying precedent. If Trump (or any president) can label actions as “official,” he can use the machinery of the state — DOJ, ICE, federal agencies — as political weapons with almost no legal consequence. One phone call, one tweet, one burst of rage, and careers, families, even entire communities can be destroyed.
Final Word
The line has already shifted. What was once rhetorical — “Make America Great Again” — is now material: Make America Untouchable.
A president who can commit acts under the label “official” and walk away clean — one who can call up authority, fire critics, dodge accountability, and bend institutions to his personal will — is not operating under democracy. He is operating as a dictator.
The country loses when the highest court in the land bows down to Trump.
