The incident took place on August 30, 2025, near the village of Voskresenka, according to the project “I Want to Live,” a state project of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War. Unidentified persons set fire to dry grass near the army command post, after which the fire quickly spread to the premises and dugouts. The fire caused heavy smoke and the accumulation of carbon monoxide. As a result, the operational staff was unable to leave the command post in time. The dead included several high-ranking officers. In particular, Colonel Ilya Makhotin, deputy chief of staff of the missile and artillery department, and Lieutenant Colonel Ruslan Shigabutdinov, who was responsible for operational planning. Also killed in the fire were Lieutenant Colonel Dmitry Pashabekov, head of the fire and nuclear destruction planning department, and Major Rustam Setdarov, a senior mathematical modeling officer. Other victims included officers from the artillery, air defense, topography, and electronic warfare services. Several junior officers were also killed, including Lieutenant Vadym Yakovets.

Ukraine struck the oil refinery in Volgograd last night.

x Special Operations Forces struck the Volgograd oil refinery last night, disrupting operations. As the largest fuel producer in Russia’s Southern Federal District, it processes 15.7M tons annually - 5.6% of Russia’s total. Preliminary reports confirm the refinery has been halted.

Ukraine also sent long-range drones to strike the Salavat refinery in Bashkortostan.

x /3. 🔥AVT-4 with capacity of 4mln tons of oil per year was hit during the attack on the Salavat oil refinery. As can be seen, the use of a large number of anti-drone protective structures did not save one of the most important unit of the oil refinery from a drone strike.

Ukraine used a French-supplied Hammer bomb to hit the dam on this reservoir east of Pokrovsk.

The music is indeed obnoxious.

x Turn the music down: but here's the moment an AASM HAMMER glide bomb destroys a dam near Myroliubivka on the Myrnohrad axis.

Ukraine says it has gained more ground at the Dobropillia salient.

x Col. Valentyn Manko, head of Ukraine’s Assault Troops, says Russian forces near Dobropillia have been cut off for three weeks. Three encirclements have formed: a small one near Kucheriv Yar, a medium one around Volodymyrivka, and a large one, previously unreported, likely on the Razine–Rodynske line

Ukraine’s mines have become much deadlier.

x 1/ One of Ukraine's most-feared innovations is the Jonik magnetic-influence fuze, which is used to create proximity-activated booby traps. A Russian source describes in detail how it functions, warning: "do not move, do not touch, do not approach." ⬇️

2/ Writing on the Russian social media network VK, 'Warrior' describes how Ukraine uses Jonik fuzes against Russian soldiers: 3/ "Despite the fact that many fighters have heard about mined backpacks, first aid kits, drones and various IEDs, which detonate when picked up or approached, there are still frequent cases when another unpleasant incident occurs – a fighter shows interest in another object,… 4/ …which explodes during his study. And the matter lies in the electronic board of the initiation of an explosive device with non-contact target sensors. Non-contact target sensors have been used in various mines for a long time. 5/ "However, such sensors were and are produced in fairly large dimensions from components of previous generations, being large in size and quite energy-intensive. 6/ "Today, when the enemy has access to modern power elements, to an unlimited number of cheap electronic components, the situation has changed, allowing the enemy to establish production of very light and compact electronic boards for initiating an explosive device… 7/ …with non-contact target sensors, which in specialised circles have received the common name "Jonik". Jonik has quite small dimensions: its length is 6.5 cm, its height is 4 cm, and its width is 3 cm. The operation of the Jonik is based on three target sensors: 8/ • Gyroscope – a sensor of angular orientation in space, responding to tilt; • Accelerometer – a sensor of the speed of an object along one or more axes, responding to movement; • Magnetometer – a sensor that responds to changes in the background magnetic field. 9/ "The Jonik operates using a 3 V power supply. An electric detonator, which is placed in the explosive mass, is connected to the terminals. 10/ "When any of the sensors is triggered (approaching a metal object, lifting or turning), an electric pulse is sent to the detonator and the charge is detonated.

These Russians were captured trying to use the pipeline to infiltrate Kupiansk. They talk about how their commanders told them to remove the plates from their bulletproof vests because they wouldn’t need them.

x Russian soldiers who entered Kupyansk through a pipeline recount the orders they were given and how they were already expecting the arrival of the "Baba Yaga."

Trump sounds like a jilted lover. Starmer assures him that he’s better off without Putin anyway.

x “Putin let me down,” says Trump alongside British PM Keir Starmer. “Putin has revealed his true face, launching the biggest attack since the invasion, a fresh surge of bloodshed and killing of innocents,” Starmer added.

But at least he ended that terrible war between Azerbaijan and Albania. 🙄🙄

Another 930 Russians plus two more tanks.

The EU still has a long way to go to wean itself from Russian oil/gas — mostly LNG.

x In the first quarter of 2025, Russia's exports to the European Union amounted to €8.7 billion, Bild reports , citing data from the Institute of German Economics. In 2021, the figure for the same period reached €30.6 billion, and in 2022, it reached a record €63 billion.

And the priciest housing is in a building that isn’t tall enough for a body to achieve terminal velocity.

This is an interesting write-up of a podcast in which a journalist asserts that Russian bloggers get away with criticizing the military because they serve the useful function of raising money for the troops.

In a society that no longer tolerates public criticism of the state’s military policies, why are Russia’s “Z-bloggers” allowed to publish speech that would land others behind bars? Journalist Ivan Filippov, who monitors pro-invasion Telegram channels, argues that Z-bloggers enjoy special treatment because the army relies on their fundraising efforts. “So long as they serve a purpose, they’ve been permitted this leeway,” Filippov told Meduza on September 16 in an appearance on our weekly podcast. As convenient as that arrangement seems for both sides, a recent corruption scandal involving a blogger named Roman Alekhin could undermine Z-channels’ future fundraising.

In this article it makes the assertion that the recent arrest of blogger Roman Alekhin on charges he wanted to skim 50 million rubles from a donation of 200 million was engineered by Russian TV bloviator Vladimir Solovyov.

In an article for the news outlet Vot Tak, Filippov described this chain of events as a “win-win situation” and “nothing short of delightful” for opponents of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. “The best part is that it doesn’t even matter how this massive toad-viper fest ends,” he wrote, explaining that the Roman Alekhin scandal — whether it’s genuine corruption or a fabrication by Solovyov’s media empire — has already undermined Z-bloggers’ capacity to crowdfund. If Solovyov manages to capitalize on this moment by capturing donations that previously went to grassroots activists, the money will disappear into his constellation of notoriously inefficient charities. “Sure, some of the volunteers might be skimming, maybe pocketing a bit, but they actually care,” Filippov told Meduza. “They want the Russian army to win, they write about it, they immerse themselves in the details, ask soldiers what they need, and hunt for bargains so they can send more. They care. As for Solovyov’s bunch, all they care about is showing up for the cameras and bragging about what great helpers they are.”

Solovyov tells Kellogg to shut up and asks him if he got his medals from killing civilians.

x Looks like General Kellogg’s latest statements really ruffled some feathers in Moscow. ‘Your contemptuous attitude towards the Russian soldiers is absolutely at odds with the position of the current administration,’ said Vladimir Solovyov, addressing Kellogg.

Solovyov also used ‘ты’, the informal Russian ‘you’, which is typically reserved for addressing close acquaintances or those you consider of lower status, signaling disdain.

x ❗️Russian propagandist Solovyov filmed a video report from the secret Russian UAV center "Rubikon". But he forgot to blur the inscription on the toilet. From this video, the location of the "Rubikon" center was found: it is located right in the Patriot Park in Kubinka, near Moscow.

Ukraine’s grain harvest suffers from the war.

x Ukraine’s agriculture passed its last EU screening in Brussels.

But the story isn’t just policy:

– Grain exports down 33%

– Farmers clearing mines with shotguns at hand

– Family co-ops keeping Ukraine fed

EU debates “mega farms,” while Ukraine lives the reality.

A thousand fallen soldiers return home.

Honoring the dead daily.

Available accessories include FPV drones to chase them, water bottles of puddle water, crutches to use when being sent on a meat assault and a black plastic body bag.

Was Kid Rock not available?

x According to Russian sources, someone named Vassy will represent the United States in the “Intervision” Song Contest in Moscow. They refer to her as “world-famous star of dance music”. Her Wikipedia page says that she is an Australian singer born to Greek parents… 🤔

Yes, the show must go on.

x Show must go on, even when interrupted by an air raid alert. The Homin choir continued their show in the shelter. Our hearts might be breaking, but our smiles still stay on. Especially when we can do something about those trying to spoil them.
