My long national Disney nightmare is over [1]

I should have known it would turn out badly when, as a kid, I got lost at the Magic Kingdom inside Walt Disney World within two minutes of entering the place. Fast forward to around 25 years ago, when Disney flew me out to Burbank to interview for a senior position. Although I liked the company’s content, when I asked around about their corporate reputation, over and over I heard the same thing: brutal, both toward competitors and toward their own employees. There was even a word used to describe the place, which is so Nazi-adjacent that I won’t repeat it here. Disney has also been described as a law firm that makes movies. And during the interview process, to paraphrase one or more characters now owned by Disney, I had a bad feeling about this.
I didn’t take the Disney job. Nevertheless, I still liked their content library and many if not all of their business plans, and bought shares in the company.
Then last December, after Trump’s election, Disney, through their ABC News division, pissed me off by paying Trump $15 million in shakedown money over something their “This Week” program and its host, George Stephanopoulos, didn’t do wrong at all, which was to bring up the E. Jean Carroll verdict against Trump, in context, in an interview with Rep. Nancy Mace.
Maybe a glutton for punishment, I still had dreams of going to Walt Disney World again, and happily getting lost among their “Star Wars” attraction at the Disney’s Hollywood Studios park.
No more. After the news about ABC’s latest big cave to Trump in firing Jimmy Kimmel (“suspended”? yeah right), the first thing I did was sell all my Disney stock. Next, I’m scuttling any plans of giving my dollars to the company, whether at Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney+ streaming channel, or otherwise. I already didn’t watch ESPN (80% owned by Disney) or ABC, so no loss there. (Note: this is just a sampling of Disney’s many properties.)
In short, my long roller-coaster ride with the Walt Disney Company is over. Now it's time to say goodbye to all their company. Fu*k ABC, fu*k Disney, and fu*k Mickey Mouse.
