Maine Canvass Wrapup: What did we accomplish? [1]

Continuing on with our state wrapups for the ones where we ended canvassing on Labor Day. Hope Springs from Field PAC [dated website] came to Maine for two reasons: there’s a Senate seat held by the only Republican in a state where the Democratic presidential candidate won the state, and to protect Jared Golden’s congressional seat in ME-02 (which is where our canvassing this Summer has been).

Maine is definitely an unusual state. In some ways, as a New England state it should be blue. Or is that red? There are treasured elements in the values of both parties that appeal to people here.

We spent 9 Saturdays in mostly the areas between Augusta and Bangor. Small towns, where people tend to know if you are local — even though our volunteers were all "Mainers." We concentrated on ME-02, Jared Golden’s district, which is one of the GOP’s top targets in 2026. Donald Trump won this district three times, making it one of the most competitive districts in the nation.
