The New York Times wonders what America's story will be post-Trump [1]

This is my comment on the NYT’s editorial today, “What will be America’s Story Be After Trump.”

This is my comment: “America's story will be about how our country copes with and adjusts to the end of the "American Century." The United States has spent most of my adult life turning the world into a graveyard, with the flimsiest of justifications, or lately, none at all. The end of American leadership is happening now. It will be done and finished long before Trump's term is over. It will take a generation just to repair the damage being done to our commonwealth.

As for our reputation and moral authority, we elected Trump twice. Who can say what we will do next. We have left a leadership vacuum and other powers are moving quickly to fill it.

Finis.”

It has been suggested in some quarters that I am an optimist.
