What's In A Name? [1]

Recently – per another tRump Executive DisOrder – the Department of Defense has been renamed the Department of War. I for one actually welcome the name change which now more accurately describes the current mission of our military (and our President) to ride the red horse of the Apocalypse against peace-loving lambs of the World. In George Orwell’s novel “1984” government departments in the fictional Fascist country of Oceania are given euphemistic names to disguise their real functions:
The Ministry of Peace concerns itself with war, the Ministry of Truth with lies, the Ministry of Love with torture and the Ministry of Plenty with starvation. These contradictions are not accidental, nor do they result from ordinary hypocrisy: they are deliberate exercises in doublethink. [Source: Wikipedia]
As an exercise in “triplethink” tRump should be encouraged to assign additional appropriate names to US government departments and agencies operating under Big Brother’s Administration such as the following:
-- Dept of Labor (DOL) = Dept of Management (DOM)
-- Dept of Education (DOE) = Dept of Indoctrination (DOI)
-- Dept of Agriculture (DOA) = Dept of Big Agribusiness (DOBA)
-- Dept of Health and Human Services (DHHS) = Dept of Death Sickness and Disinformation (DDSD)
-- Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) = Federal Bureau of Invasive Intimidation (FBII)
-- Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) = Environmental Pollution Agency (EPA)
-- Department of Justice (DOJ) = Department of Injustice and Retribution (DOIR)
-- Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) = Agency of Inhumane Capture and Extraction (AICE)
-- Internal Revenue Service (IRS) = Infernal Revenue Service for Billionaire Refunds (IRSBR)
-- Bureau of Consumer Protection (BCP) = Bureau of Consumer Non-Protection (BCNP)
-- Social Security Administration (SSA) = Senior Insecurity Administration (SIA)
-- Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) – Bureau of Unreliable Numbers (BUN)
What’s in a name? Not much you say? So how about the word “conservative”?
Per Webster’s Dictionary “conservative” is defined as follows: “Noun: A person who favors maintenance of the status quo. Adjective: 1. Cautious. 2. Tending to resist change or innovation.”
Per the Cambridge Dictionary “conservative” is defined as “Not usually liking or trusting change, especially sudden change.”
IMHO, based on these definitions, so-called GOP Conservatives are not really conservative at all. They are actually Radical Regressives (or Regressive Radicals) that only want to conserve power, wealth, and supremacy for themselves and other “conservatives.”
Progressives, on the other hand, seem to be the real conservatives who believe in conserving/saving democracy, the environment and the planet, national parks, clean safe air, water, and food, human and civil rights, the rule of law, privacy, reproductive rights, competitive capitalism, affordable universal healthcare, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and the ACA, fair wages and working conditions, voting rights, victims of violence (including from guns), fair and equitable taxation, a multi-racial/cultural society, the benefits of immigration, scientific facts, the wall between church and state, free and fair elections, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, peace and justice for all, etc.
In the play “Romeo and Juliet” William Shakespeare wrote “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” The Bard of Avon could also have effectively penned this today: “By any other name the prickly POTUS plant in the Awful Office would still stink to high heaven.”
