IAN: September 14, 2025 - it's been a week [1]

My personal life is well enough, but national and international news has been full of … shall we say, excitement. I started up my donations again, since the final stretch of distributing my mother’s estate is almost over. I hit my account’s daily limit, since I was playing catch-up over the several months I hadn’t donated at all. I’m back to normal now — this won’t be a problem again.

As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

Charlie Kirk was killed on Wednesday in Utah. I did not wish him dead, but I will not mourn him. I do recall many times seeing things about stuff he’d said online and wishing he would just go away (also, wondering what his wife thought about that crap); but I did not wish him dead.

The alleged shooter’s grandmother has apparently pitched a fit over people online calling him a Democrat. MAGA family to the core, it seems. Charlie Kirk wasn’t conservative enough? Ye gods and little fishes!

I forget what my official move-in date was, other than it took a week in mid-September; but I have lived where I am now for 21 years. And I’ve had my landline since 1996 — I didn’t move far enough in 2004 to need to change my number. I remember that I had the phone operational in both apartments until I got the old one cleaned up. The rental company only deducted $4.95 from my deposit. The cats did a job on the carpet in the room they mostly lived in, but the carpet was old when my now ex and I moved in, and I lived there well past the length of time I could have officially requested new carpets without doing so. I did break the cover for the hall light fixture, which was what the $4.95 was about. Not bad for eight years. Shortly after I moved out (shortly after my divorce), the apartments were converted to condominiums. No, I don’t miss living there — I just remember the place.

I have an order on the way that I bought from the company’s website. It’s being shipped through Amazon. This is far from the first time this has happened.

Six packages coming, most of them direct from the company. Not a single one of them has an estimated arrival date. Not even the one actually from Amazon, though it at least has an estimated range of dates.

Love you guys!
