Happy Friday, beer fans! Come in and join us for a cold one!

This week in my countdown of Barstool Mountain’s Top 100 Drinking Songs:

#94 — Two More Bottles of Wine - Delbert McClinton

Good ol’ honky-tonk country. Fuck yeah. Definitely my favorite song of the list so far. The Emmylou Harris recording is so famous that half the internet thinks she wrote it. (Delbert wrote it).

I ain't gonna let it bother me today

I been workin, ' and I'm too tired anyway

But it's alright 'cause it's midnight, and I got two more bottles of wine

There will be more wine songs in the Top 100, but here’s another well-known drinking song that didn’t make the list. Neil Diamond wrote and recorded it but I’d rather hear the version that was a big hit for UB40.

Bay Area FNBB readers can come meet esquimaux, or at least get some free music with your beer: my German band is playing a bunch of Oktoberfest gigs.

Sat Sept 20 1:00 - 4:00 - Fieldwork Brewing, Berkeley

Sun Sept 21 1:00 - 4:00 - Fieldwork Brewing, San Mateo

Sat Sept 27 1:00 - 4:00 - Fieldwork Brewing, San Leandro

Sat Oct 4 1:00 - 4:00 - San Pedro Market Square, San Jose

Sun Oct 5 1:00 - 4:00 - Fieldwork Brewing, San Ramon

Clearly the Fieldwork people liked us last year, and our bandleader has done a good job selling us, we wish they’d open a place in the South Bay where most of the band lives.

Beer News: It’s generally reported that beer drinking is down, and while some brewers aren’t weathering the tough times, others are thriving and expanding. Here in the Bay Area Fieldwork and East Brother are both opening new spaces in San Francisco, and there’s a big new beer garden in Alameda. (Fieldwork originally offered us an Oktoberfest gig at that new SF taproom then changed to San Ramon; probably they weren’t sure enough when it would be opening.)
