The Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville, Oregon has a couple of training airplanes.

Beechcraft T-34 Mentor

The T-34 Mentor, based on Beechcraft’s Model 35 Bonanza, first flew in 1948 and became operational in 1953. From 1953 to 1990, more than 2,300 were built. The Mentor was used by twenty different nations.

This aircraft has a top speed of 322 mph, a cruise speed of 246 mph, a range of 708 miles, and a service ceiling of 30,000 feet. It is powered by a Continental 0470-4 6-cylinder engine.

The Mentor on display was produced in 1956 and flew with the U.S. Navy’s training squadron at Soufley Field, Florida.

Vultee BT-13A Valiant

The Vultee BT-13 Valiant was one of the most widely used World War II trainers.

This aircraft has a top speed of 180 mph, and a service ceiling of 19,400 feet. It is powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-985-AN-1 radial engine.
