Do you need a measles vaccine booster? [1]

While scheduling some bloodwork for me, my primary care physician recommended I get screened for measles immunity.
Screened for what, now?
“Measles is back in the country, thanks to morons who want to kill us all,” he calmly explained. “You probably only got one dose when you were immunized. In 1989 they changed the recommendation to two doses.”
(I decided not to ask him if I really looked that old. He probably had to read my birthday from my patient records to be sure. Probably..)
Happily, there is blood test for measles immunity. I was due to get bloodwork anyway so he ordered that test for me.
There are many reasons someone may, or may not, need to get tested or boosted. Read about it the following Yale Medicine article: “Should you get a Measles Vaccine Booster?” (Like most internet articles, the question asked in the title isn’t answered until late in the article. So feel free to skip the first two sections. You’re welcome.)
I realize now that the time you spent reading this story might have been better spent reading that Yale Medicine article instead. But I’d already gone and found that fantastic “Ye Olde-Tyme Meafles Vaccine” image for the top of the story, and I’ll be darned if I let that effort go to waste.
