Today should be a day of remembrance [1]

Instead we are besieged by more violence, and a divisiveness that tarnishes our souls. We have forgotten that people from all over the world died when the towers fell, forgotten the boat lift that carried the frightened people away from the dust and terror on Manhattan, forgotten the bravery of the passengers who prevented one of the attacks, forgotten that the Pentagon too was hit.

Forgotten that we let our leaders turn our sorrow into an excuse for endless war. Forgotten that we decided to move on instead of hold those leaders to account.

We should remember.
