UPDATE: Charlie Kirk-CONFIRMED DEAD-Person of Interest in Custody [1]

UPDATE: Per CNN, according to the Governor of Utah a person of interest is currently in custody, but he stopped short of calling him a suspect. This is in direct contrast to FBI Director Kash Patel tweeting (I won’t link X here) earlier that the suspect had been apprehended.
It has been confirmed. Charlie Kirk has died of his injuries.

Despite earlier saying a suspect was in custody, The school has released a statement:
On September 10, 2025, at 12:20 a single shot rang out in the quad near the food court on the Utah Valley University Orem Campus as Mr. Charlie Kirk began speaking at his planned rally. We can confirm that Mr. Kirk was shot, but we don’t know his condition. The suspect is not in custody. Police are still investigating Campus is closed for the rest of the day.
The AP is reporting that he is currently in critical condition:
Kirk is being treated and is in critical condition, a law enforcement official briefed on the shooting told The Associated Press. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss the matter. Kirk co-founded Turning Point USA in 2012 at the age of 18, and soon became a regular presence on cable TV, where he leaned into the culture wars and heaped praise on then-President Trump.
The news is a bit sketchy at the moment but according to Variety:
What we know currently is that Charlie Kirk was about 20 minutes into his presentation when we heard shots fired from a nearby building and to the best of our knowledge he was hit and taken with his security team away from the premises, and the courtyard was cleared,” a UVU spokeswoman told CNBC.
Deseret News is reporting he was shot in the neck during a Q&A at Utah Valley University in Orem, UT. Witnesses say he was hit in the neck area and they have a suspect in custody.
Story is unfolding so I’ll update as I learn more.
I’ll keep my personal thoughts about this to myself. Let’s just say I’m an indifferent messenger and leave it at that, but violence is never the answer.
