Russian stuff blowing up: NATO invokes Article 4 over Russian drone violation of Poland's border [1]

Poland came under Russian drone assault yesterday.
This time it wasn’t a single drone gone astray. This was from an estimated 19 drones that crossed the border by way of Belarus. And this comes after Poland closed its border with Belarus because of ongoing military exercises with Russia.
In response, Poland, Romania, The Netherlands and Italy scrambled fighters, a refueler and an AWACS plane. At least 10 drones were shot down, some by Dutch F-35s. Other drones crashed.
And NATO has invoked Article 4, which is not to be confused with Article 5.
Article 4 provides for consultations in the event of a threat to security or territorial integrity. Article 5 is invoked when a member is attacked and needs direct military support.
x Another Russian drone (this one is a Russian "Gerbera", military number «ЫЫ31402») was found in Poland after today’s attack. Drone crashed near Sulejów, in Mniszków, Opoczno County. 265 km from the Polish border.

So the question is whether this was a deliberate attack or another Russian army fuck up. Or is this Russia testing the waters to see how much they can get away with before NATO does something?
Or maybe Putin is wanting to muddy the waters, so to speak, to show how the war can spread and scare off the Europeans.
But this can’t be seen as just a screw up -- it involves too many drones and they didn’t veer off course from Ukraine.
x It seems multiple Shahed drones are flying through Belarusian airspace towards Poland — and Belarusian jets have been scrambled to shoot them down before they cross over. (Per unconfirmed reports from OSINT and Ukrainian channels.) If so, what the hell kind of fuckup was this? — Justin Ling (@justinling.ca) September 9, 2025 at 6:06 PM
The drones were fitted with extra fuel tanks.
x ❗️Before sending to 🇵🇱Poland, the 🇷🇺Russians equipped the Gerbera drones with additional fuel tanks, which increased their flight range. As standard, the Gerbera has a single fuel tank located in the tail. The drones that crashed in Poland had another additional tank in the nose.

Pistorius estimated that 19 drones were involved.
x German Defense Minister Pistorius: There is definitely no reason to assume that [Russian drones violating Polish airspace] was a matter of course correction errors or anything of that sort. These drones were quite obviously deliberately directed on this course.

x 💬 In response to this, Poland has called on the North Atlantic Alliance to invoke Article 4 of the Treaty. The instruction in this matter was received from me this morning by Poland’s Permanent Representative to @NATO, Jacek Najder. | Deputy PM @radek-sikorski.bsky.social

x In the eighth-ever invocation of NATO’s Article 4, Poland has triggered the alliance procedure in response to Russia’s overnight drone incursions, initiating consultations that occur when a member believes its “territorial integrity, political independence, or security” is under threat.

At least one residence about 20 km from the border was damaged by a drone.
Of course, Trump is on top of the situation as usual.
Belarus claims it helped Poland.
x Meanwhile, defense ministry of Belarus says it was them who informed Poland about the drones&it was thanks to them that Poland was able to react. Belarus also claimed that the drones have drifted off course due to EW.The ministry's representative claimed that some of them were shot down over Belarus

Russians are excited.
But Russia refuses to admit the drones belonged to them.
x ⚡️ Moscow claims 'no evidence' drones downed over Poland were Russian. "No evidence has been presented that these drones are of Russian origin," said Andrei Ordash, Moscow's charge d'affaires in Poland.

Orban condemned the drone intrusion. But Fico demonstrated once again how a pro-Russian apologist acts.
x ⚡️ Polish FM Sikorski fires back at Hungary’s Viktor Orban, saying the Russian drone incident proves he should “get off the fence” and finally condemn Russian aggression.

x 🇸🇰🤔 It is necessary to establish who was flying the drones, — Fico "The violation of Polish airspace by drones is a serious incident that could have far-reaching consequences, but it is necessary to establish whether it was intentional or accidental, and who was flying the drones."

Florida man who refuses to sanction Russia tells the EU to put huge tariffs on China and India.
x Who is this man to lecture Europe while sparing Putin from real pressure? Trump urged the EU to impose 100% tariffs on China and India to curb their purchases of Russian oil and pressure Moscow to end the war. He promised US backing for such measures. Yet on Russia itself, he offers nothing.

A Russian blogger is accused of trying to defraud a fund to air Russian troops.
x 1/ Russian warblogger Roman Alekhin is at the centre of a major scandal after he was caught on video arranging a multimillion-dollar fraud and theft of aid to Russian troops fighting in Ukraine. Other warbloggers warn that it threatens to devastate volunteer fundraising. ⬇️

2/ A secretly recorded video, reported by REN.TV, shows Alekhin explaining how he is going to launder a 200 million ($2.4 million) ruble donation from a businessman. He will buy 150 million worth of medical supplies for the troops from the same businessman. 3/ At the same time, Alekhin will receive 50 million rubles ($600,000) as a "commission", while the troops will receive only three-quarters of the medical supplies that they were promised.
I remain amazed that some American evangelicals still look at Russia as a bastion of traditional values.
How’s the Russian economy doing these days?
