I’m volunteering with a group providing resources for “Gun Violence Prevention: A K-12 Campus Safety and Corporate Security Symposium” tomorrow. The day “features the voices and experiences of real-life survivors and world-class safety professionals. The dynamic agenda explores institutional mitigation practices through both lessons learned and innovative risk management required to meet the evolving landscape.”
Today’s news: It is a little too soon to expect “lessons learned,” but the “evolving landscape” will no doubt include this afternoon’s shooting at Evergreen High School, less than 40 miles away. At 3 pm Mountain Time, the school provided an update:
“The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office law enforcement command staff has now confirmed three individuals were transported to the hospital after the shooting outside of EHS; three are confirmed as juveniles and we have not confirmed their school enrollment. We do not know the individuals’ identities or their conditions at this time. We do not know of other victims at this time.”
Other news sources report: “The suspect, who has yet to be identified, used an unspecified type of handgun during the shooting, which happened on school grounds outside the building.”
