It’s Time for the Military Personnel Illegally Occupying Civilian Areas to Get the “Blue Flu" [1]

A federal judge has ruled that sending troops to police civilian areas in the Los Angeles is illegal. The Judge ruled that the President “violated an 1878 law that generally bars federal troops from participating in civilian law enforcement” by sending troops.

Of course, there will be the ever-present appeal but it is clear that the President’s actions are illegal. Whether he complies with the law or not is another question since he is an expert at ignoring and evading the rule of law (note how his 38 felony convictions had no effect or associated punishment but at least he is barred from visiting 38 countries as a felon).

The military is held to a higher standard than most US citizens: “The military oath, known as the Oath of Enlistment, requires service members to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, which indirectly protects the citizens by upholding the nation's laws and freedoms.”

This means if any member of government (the President or any commanding officer) gives an order that clearly violates the constitution or rule of law, military personnel are required to ignore it.

Military personnel are required to defend the Constitution -- not a person such as the President and his edicts or orders from a superior.

But the oath requires that the soldier rejecting an order face a military court of justice which may be “less than just” given the obvious political pressure currently exerted on military leaders by the administration.

So, what can be done so military personnel can remain true to their oath?

One suggestion is that they come down with the “blue flu.”

The Blue Flu is a “type of strike action by police officers [or the military in this case] where many call in sick simultaneously to protest working conditions or policies, often in places where strikes are illegal.”

Military personnel can remain true to their oath regardless of the corruption of the “commander in chief” and his appointees by continually claiming sickness.

Mother Jones reports that “Alex, a National Guard recruiter from one of the states that sent troops to DC who requested anonymity to speak freely, told Mother Jones that the DC mission has deterred potential recruits and pushed already disillusioned soldiers to their breaking points.”

The article states, “Those who were called away from their civilian jobs for a “crime emergency” instead found themselves completing “beautification” duties on Capitol Hill and patrolling Krispy Kremes. Users on the National Guard subreddit were quick to give their colleagues a new nickname: National Guardeners.”

Alex said, “They just see us as little toy soldiers to put on the street to show some muscle. There’s no clear mission or understanding of that mission.”

Given the overall low morale and the general feeling that “this was not what I signed up for” in many in the Guard, it is time to act.

Let these soldiers defend the rule of law. The “bait and switch” tactic where the National Guard members were told they were defending the US against external enemies has been altered to see US citizens and residents as enemies. Instead of defending against external enemies, they are being used to harass and intimidate those citizens who do not support a vengeful President.

It is time to claim sickness and therefore be unable to follow orders. The sickness arises from being asked to participate in an illegal occupation of US cities as pawns in a vendetta – a game played by a strong man politician for personal and political gain.

The only way to win this game is to choose not to play.
