“We’re gonna clean [Chicago] up…. That’s not war.” (Whoa. Flog if you must, forgive if you can. But, hey. With all due respect, Mr. President, ever hear of ethnic and/or political CLEANSING?)
To NBC’s heretically non-Trumped Yamiche Alcindor (smack after channeling and cosplaying Lt Col Bill “Love The Smell Of Napalm” Kilgore- sitting stone-faced before a presumably firebombed Windy City that’s ablaze to the point of “Chipocalypse Now”), so saith our crazed, berserkering self-styled “King.”
Hello. Any more “clean,” and The Loop would be nuked.
And there’s more. As if to scourge DC with flamethrowing and/or raw sewage, Mr. Clean-in-Chief has taken it on himself to motormouth all over the duly fact-seeking Alcindor: “DARLING, YOU DON’T LISTEN. YOU NEVER LISTEN. THAT’S WHY YOU’RE SECOND-RATE!”
As if he were all ears, all the time, right?
In retrospect, let’s get a word in edgewise. In the meme she references, Brigadier Bonespurs augurs doing to Illinois pretty much what he’s been doing to the economy, stupid.
Seriously. We can ill afford to take his fiery, bombastic approach lying down. So, to the suits at Alcindor’s employer, here’s a concise, heartfelt plea. With governance of/by/for the people being blitzed in plain sight, please. Make “NBC” stand for “Never Bow to Conquerors.” Task Alcindor (and others) to stand up to Mad King Donald’s boatloads of brass knuckles. Stacks of spiked scepters. What have you.
This, perhaps, along the lines of querying him in such terms as ‘IF YOU’RE NOT WAGING WAR BY EVIL MEANS, THEN WHY DO YOU SMEAR, SLIME, AND INVADE (UNDER FALSE PRETEXT) ONLY CITIES THAT HAVE VOTED AGAINST YOU?
‘MOREOVER, IF YOU’RE REALLY IN THE CLEANING BUSINESS, WHY DON’T YOU YOURSELF COME CLEAN? FOR INSTANCE, WHY NOT STOP CALLING CHICAGO OUR MOST VIOLENT PLACE- AND FOCUS YOUR SUPPOSED SCRUBBING ON THE ACTUAL TOP (OR, AT LEAST, DIRTIEST) DOG, MEMPHIS?’
Right now, we’ve reached a defining moment. Better late than never, Dems need to closely compare our felon in chief to an exterminator offering a great deal to wipe out the pests that he himself spread while the owners were away. Or, to a private ‘firefighter’ who just happens to double as a pyromaniac.
Such governors as JB Pritzker and Wes Moore have every right to oppose the Orange Ogre’s forked tongued tyranny. Trouble is, when and if they do so, not unlike incendiary devices dropped from choppers, Trump’s lies may fly thick and fast… while their truth comes limping after.
Sigh. Long, long ago, Dems truly needed to call Trump’s mendacity to account. At this point, two fond hopes loom YUGE. One, that it’s not too late to stop him. Two, that the nation (against all odds, I fear), can, at length, prevail.
