What Defines A Person As An American? [1]

This diary was precipitated by a speech given by an actual sitting member of Congress, named Eric Schmitt. At something called the “National Conservatism Conference, on September 2. In it he blatantly attempts to (drastically) redefine the most foundational truths of American history...very much along racial lines! And hand in hand with that bit of historical sleight-of-hand, also the very definition of what “should” constitute an “real” American, in the immediate future as a result!
Not so coincidentally, we’ve spent a very great deal of time on the left, since trump came down that escalator in June of 2015, debating and arguing whether the most important issues of our day are more rooted in “losing elections because of Democratic indifference to economic anxiety” (Aka, “gas and eggs”.), or whether long unacknowledged and avoided historical issues of racial inequality have now fully metastasized, and become a full-blown and direct existential threat to the continued survival of the American Constitution itself!
I think we may have genuinely found our answer!
Because it appears that the kinds of blatantly hate-filled and racist soirees (throughout the last century) that we used to only hear about as a result of either (strongly denied) gossip, or fuzzy videos from smuggled cellphones in pockets and purses, are now very much proud and out in the open!!!
Exhibit A:
(Uncomfortable) Silence equals complicity!!! And truth is very, very, very much the antidote!!!
What is the REAL (and unvarnished) truth of American history (in contrast to men like Schmitt)???
And on the basis of THAT truth, what actually defines a person as a REAL American???
