DNC Chair Martin: Use #PROJECTCARROT To Flip the House NOW [1]

Why waste time on gerrymandering wars when the escape hatch from Trump’s dumpster fire can be triggered through the simple choice by DNC Chair Martin to vow not to support (using state infrastructure) or fund a Dem against a House Republican who declares him or herself an independent, caucusing with Democrats. Martin can instruct state parties to do likewise.
If Trump’s cruel overreach dooms their seat anyway, urge these new independents to #FlipTheHouseNOWandBeAHeroForever. They can’t be primaried as an independent in 2026. They’ll be legendary by that time anyway for being the key players in stopping #RepubloFascism just before the last nail in the coffin of democracy is hammered home.
This is the first stage of what I call #ProjectCarrot.
But many potential defectors will need more than just the promise of glory. Vulnerable Republicans will need a bargain to consider this bold move, including a path to power, career sustainability, and insulation from the wrath that they’d face.
Here are the bullet points that Dems should offer as fulfilling those objectives:
Encourage these potential allies against Trumpism to rebrand as Constitutional Conservatives , citing all the transgressions of Trump, DOGE, and his cabinet for their reasoning. It’s important that they can differentiate from the old regime yet aren’t asked to switch parties. As #ConstitutionalConservatives , they have a definitive platform for dissent with plenty of evidence to draw from. This form of shared patriotism, despite vast philosophical differences, will be crucial in establishing bipartisanship that will be valuable to them once out of power.
When House leadership is in Democratic hands, the first half dozen CC members should be granted committee chairs that don’t limit Democratic power, like Agriculture and Armed Services. As the old GOP implodes around them, these #PolarOppositePatriots retain power, a voice, and perhaps emerge from the ashes of this iteration of the GOP as the leaders of GOP 2.0 with bipartisan clout.
Tell them that among your first acts will be protection from billionaire funding against them in the general too, with the introduction of a new version of the For the People Act with updates to allow for new GOP and Trumpian tactics. Public not private campaign funding, massive superPAC restrictions, and overturning Citizens United are the keys to ensuring democracy returns to the right track.
When the Martin deal is out in the open, Indivisible and the 50501 Movementwill craft messaging to share on the steps and streets that reflect that potential CC members can emerge as heroes for the history books, for their courage will be highlighted as the straws that broke the camel’s back. And for those already committed to taking the plunge, messaging will say “We’re back to thank you.”
The toughest ask on all this is obviously the passage of the #ForThePeopleAct. But there’s a similar primary threat to that of House Republicans looming for many Senators who passed the #BBBbetrayal with planned retribution in the primaries by Musk. And overriding a Trump veto would provide a huge sense of relief throughout Congress. No more dialing for dollars, compromising positions to appease donors on either side of the aisle.
And if that happens, it will be a shot over the bow for Trump. He’ll know that his third impeachment may this time yield removal.
A Democratically controlled House can have initial investigations augmented by bringing in the fired Inspectors General to testify as to how their illegal terminations were crucial in paving the way for and hastening this authoritarian overreach. Grounds for impeachment of cabinet and Senate-approved agency heads will dominate the media. Those same IGs can apply similar scrutiny over the actions and slashing of DOGE throughout government.
And this would be the moment to put SCOTUS under the same ethics rules that every other judge in the nation faces. Then previous transgressions and failures to recuse despite obvious conflicts of interest can be noted aloud as grounds for impeachment possibilities down the road. Many clearly abused the “self-policing” doctrine and violated their oaths.
Sadly, the unthinkable flooding tragedy in Texas underscores the carelessness in the crusade of DOGE and Trump in gutting necessary government functions, largely for appearances and as cover for Musk to end all the legal jeopardy waiting for him.
This reckless dismantling leading directly to fatalities can be cited as cause when the House seeks presidential censure. This would include an agreement that Trump must sign, agree to, and continue to abide by. If he fails, that will trigger impeachment.
But this agreement should not include a demand of forfeiture of his emolument gains up front. If the House does indeed have the power to require emolument forfeiture if he is to remain president, that should lie one step below actual impeachment. That way Dems would retain significant leverage. But if that power doesn’t exist, the threat of shutting off the gold spigot sooner with a hasty impeachment rather than later by running out the clock will weigh heavily in Trump’s decisions.
Money is the crucial factor; Trump will do most anything to keep the lion’s share of his ill-gotten gains including those that fly. It’s a reflexive instinct. The best result of all this isn’t Trump yielding to a President Vance because JD would only be the proxy for Peter Thiel. And Thiel will make the replacement of democracy with kleptocratic RepubloFascism a far more efficient and tidy process.
If you please, here are my suggestions for what stipulations should be in the presidential censure document:
Trump must reinstall all previously fired IGs and fire his most insidious carryover, Department of Homeland Security IG Joseph Cuffari.
Trump must adhere to all laws and norms in the future and align with his oath of office to uphold and defend the Constitution.
All acts outside of those bounds up to this point must be corrected as possible, including punitive acts against Harvard and other institutions. Also reversed would be the senseless ending of funding for medical research along with restoring dozens of other hollowed out programs that citizens depend on.
Similarly, the extra-legal activities, security breaches, and illegal firings by Elon Musk must be reversed, and DOGE ends now. All firing and defunding domestically by DOGE must be reevaluated, and reversed if documentation cannot justify actions taken. Also, Trump will restore international DOGE cuts including the most sadistic: ending USAID and PEPFAR.
The weaponizing of governmental agencies and the DOJ to target Trump’s political foes must end. The separation of powers among the three branches of government will be restored.
Any further actions taken on Iran MUST be brought before Congress first as stipulated in the Constitution. Similarly, all decisions on tariffs must return to the House because no state of emergency ever existed for those duties to be commandeered. This, actually, can be a key inducement to prospective CC members that need to cite economically critical high moral ground that struggling constituents can appreciate.
The government contract with Palantir must be cancelled, and the sharing of all private information between agencies shall not move forward. Any privacy breaches that do harm to individuals can be grounds for civil suits directed at Musk specifically, being that he acted as a consultant outside of government office and simply took data without any congressional approval.
All pardons must adhere to normal approval standards and not be available to previous and current coconspirators in violating the law.
ICE can no longer detain and/or deport anyone without due process, meaning an end to blanket sweeps without warrants focused only on specific individuals. Also, records of arresting officers thus far must be released by badge number, with identities subject to subpoena in civil suits against those using excessive force or punitive cruelty. All ICE agents must display badges and ID numbers. Also, ICE funding can be used for reparations due those unjustly detained and/or treated.
All Cabinet and governmental agency choices originally put up for Senate confirmation MUST be reevaluated, mandating the previous higher standards for competency, experience, and familiarity with the roll. Also, there will be more weight given to FBI vetting, with critical weaknesses released to the public. Those already violating those standards as cited by reinstated Inspectors General will not be reconsidered.
When Congress passes a massive Restoring America’s Greatness bil l, Trump will not veto it. He’ll let its reforms restore funding across the boards, while clawing back the billionaire tax giveaways to pay for it all. And he’ll have to take his fancy jet “as is.” It won’t be converted to a gilded Air Force 1.
President Trump must secure an agreement with VP Vance to adhere to these same guidelines, even if he were to eventually become President himself. Failure on Vance’s part once in the Oval could immediately trigger similar censure or impeachment proceedings.
And to muzzle the chicken, any online or public statements that are outright lies, violate the oath and honor of his office, and falsely accuse others of wrongdoing also can cumulatively trigger impeachment proceedings.
The beauty of this type of presidential censure can be in how it is written, knowing that Trump’s greed, vanity, laziness, and willingness to abandon allies abruptly when some of his skin is in the game can all be weaponized for the good of the nation. Tell Trump he has to boot Stephen Miller along with Russell Vought and his Project 2025 brethren if he wants to keep his presidency - and most of his current abilities to profit on it - and he’ll be happy to oblige. And if he let’s himself get impeached and removed, he can’t keep the big jet.
The best scenario is we get to keep #LameDuckDonald on a short leash, Congress goes to Democratic control, and all the overreach comeuppance keeps us smiling for years as impeachments, resignations, and #RebuildingHonorableDemocracy begins in bipartisan and relieved fashion.
And here’s who could be the very first domino to fall for Project Carrot. One of my fears on this is that Republicans may not want to adopt the Constitutional Conservative moniker if they know it was conceived of by Dems. So perhaps Rep. Ro Khanna of CA could talk to Rep. Massie of Kentucky about being the first to use it. The two men are co-sponsors of a bipartisan bill seeking to release the full Epstein files.
The CC label could well be reflective of the stance that led Massie to declare that he won’t run again. Having his party abandon any respect or honor for their oaths left him fed up. Imagine the impact if he states that he would be proud to stay IN Congress as a leader on this new path away from Trumpism. And Dems should give him a plum committee chair with only a modest majority under him for that bold move.
Another good prospect might be Bakersfield Congressman David Valadao. He is one of two remaining GOP House member who voted for impeachment. Being from the Central Valley, I’m sure that Rep. Valadao would appreciate the chair of the Agriculture committee as his part of the deal.
And being a huge player in the reining in of ICE overreach would make his place in Congress, and American history, a celebrated one. Valadao could find this moment of defiance cathartic. Having gone into politics not for treasure but for a sense of service, he would wield a unique opportunity to frame GOP 2.0 as an honorable party freed of corporate ties (thanks to the For the People Act) and capable even of trusted bipartisanship.
Any new independent CC members with adequate foresight will see that they’ve jumped off the sinking ship just in time.
THIS WEEKEND could be the best time ever to make the switch, with four House Republicans already supporting the Massie/Khanna bill to demand release of the full Epstein files.
And the truth tornado unleashed by Project Carrot could stir things up in weeks not years if Martin does his part. With Indivisible unleashed, we could soon convince just enough House Republicans that their nation has bigger plans for them than guilty silence.
They could be the legends celebrated every #2ndIndependenceDay, a holiday chosen to commemorate a pivotal date when America and the world came to know that Trump and Project 2025 could no longer threaten our democracy. Maybe the celebrated date could be to honor the transition of the first flipper!
Clearly there’s a lot that has to go right on all aspects of this to make #ProjectCarrot a well executed process that leads to ending America’s nightmare quickly. But there are tens of millions of us ready to take up the messaging in our neighborhoods, on Main St. and on our social media accounts.
Imagine the strength of our patriotism if the #WokeRevolt and #ConstitutionalConservatives can put their vast differences aside for the benefit of extracting Trumpism, and starting the long process of building back all that we’ve lost in just 6 months.
We now all know the preamble for the MAGA hat:
