No matter how long it takes. Never Give Up, Never Surrender. Some how some kinda way we will come get you and bring you home, brother.
I remember how American soldiers, even to this day, still work assiduously to bring home their captured mates and should they fall in enemy territory never rest until their hallowed remains are brought home to their families and given full military burials. I regularly drive by one of those Black “Leave No One Behind” flags atop replica prisoner of war camp watch towers along U.S. Interstate 44 in central Missouri … between St. Louis and Rolla.
The Ukrainians are giving a whole new meaning to this long-enduring warrior ethos. Unlike their Russian antagonists, the Ukrainians seemingly go to great lengths to ensure the safety and well-being of their soldiers. And of late we see more and more news of incredible feats of human endurance by Ukrainian soldiers who after sustaining life threatening wounds whilst trapped behind enemy lines some how manage to get themselves to a point where their mates can safely evacuate them. Can it be anymore inspiring than the story last week where a Ukrainian soldier thrown into a pit to die after his Russian captors thought they had cut his throat, somehow crawled for five days to get safely back to Ukrainian lines? I believe quaoar had this story in one of his daily diaries. The Ukrainian government is determined to not only heal his wounds but also spare no effort to help him recover his ability to speak again from his now damaged vocal cord:
Ukrainian soldier survives after 5 days crawling with throat cut by Russian troops kyivindependent.com/...
There have have been other such exploits by brave Ukrainian fighters. But today’s news of the rescue by Ukrainian Naval Special Forces(“Angels”) of four injured Ukrainians along with their medical “Oskar Schindler” who somehow managed to keep them safe from Russian authorities ... for THREE YEARS(!!!):
Four Ukrainian soldiers rescued after hiding in occupied territory for years Special forces have evacuated four Ukrainian soldiers who spent three years hiding in Russian-occupied territory, Oleksii Neizhpapa, commander of the Ukrainian Navy, said on Sept. 5. He said that they had been evacuated by the navy's Angels special forces unit. The soldiers had been injured in combat and had been hiding in the occupied territories in a hospital where "sympathetic doctors" helped them avoid Russian secret services, Neizhpapa wrote on Facebook. The evacuees include a marine, three National Guards and a medical worker who helped hide the soldiers. kyivindependent.com/…
When the daily billows of gloomy news seemingly darken and assail our nowadays, somehow some kinda way ADAPTIVE INDOMITABLE UKRAINE finds a way to let us know that our shared humanity and ethos of never ever giving up is alive and well. And that we should persist … even in the face of unimaginable destruction and depredation perpetrated by the evil-minded amongst us. The brave people of Ukraine, by their daily actions, tell us that the dark billows will pass and in time the golden rose colored fingers of Eos will once again spread out over the eastern horizon and brighten a new day of PEACE born of victorious struggle. All'alba vincerò !!!
SLAVA UKRAINI ! PEREMOHA(Victory) !!
