Having children is genetically hotwired into the human psyche.
No matter what , it is an imperative that cannot be ignored, much less stopped.
The collective insanity of overpopulation is proof positive of survival priorities gone haywire.
At its tipping point, it flips to thinning the herd.
Currently, there is a VERY-BIG VERY-BAD Wolf heading for the nursery.
Over two years ago, The U.N. Climate Chief gave us a two year window to save our children’s future. Now emptied of its bitter draught, this squandered ‘half-full glass’ has been discarded into the dust bin of time, where it remains out of sight — but one might say ‘not forgotten’ — because it was never ‘remembered’ in the first place — save by a few.
Along with world resources, we’ve frivolously trashed this transient opportunity, as we willfully remain focused on more ‘pressing’ concerns, like needless, narcissistic-based consumption.
That ‘narcotic’-strength-painkiller numbs awareness, which, when combined with the buckets of political drama being dumped on us daily, provides all the distraction necessary to anesthetize humanity with an amnesia induced by false priorities.
In Voltaire’s world, we would have gone into ‘rehab’ decades ago to get help kicking this most terrible of all addictions, but we can’t even get to the ‘acceptance’ stage of ‘12 Step’.
As a result, should ‘future generations’ survive, their outer and inner worlds will have been trashed by trash.
It might appear to an outsider that we ‘buy’ to indulge in the luxury of waste, for in a perverse way, disposal has taken on the luster of social status.
“Look at me. Cast your eyes on the splendors I can purchase to fleetingly embellish my life and elevate my sense of entitlement. Witness the seraphic ease of acquisition.
Now marvel at my aplomb as I throw it all away to purchase more - endlessly -compulsively - and best-of-all — selfishly.”
Privilege has never ‘blessed’ so many, nor tasted so ‘sweet’.
But the ‘sweetener’ is artificial and it’s begun to leave a vile aftertaste.
In its petty bourgeois way, ‘waste’ has become a ‘lavish’ display of squandered wealth and heedlessly destructive power, like an endless, self-consuming preverted ‘potlatch’, driven past debauchery.

Being inherently self-serving/obsessed<, when any substance abuser has scored, concern goes no farther than desire and immediate gratification.
After which, it’s on to the next ‘must-have-hit’ — and a fine ‘fuck you’ to all.
As a ‘mark’ of advancement in our modern ‘civilization’, waste now comes with the convenient benefit of its being somebody else’s problem. We pay extra for ease of disposal and freedom from remorse. Any shame for our criminal negligence gets carried off gratis, with the rest of the trash.
Almost to the man, at this stage in the game, such behavior is no longer grounded in ignorance — for at the very least least subconsciously most people ‘comprehend’ how damaging this has become.
Even the ‘blind’ still trip on the trash which now blankets the Earth,
But perhaps I’m being unfair — for the cognitive confoundment of ‘normalized’ addiction, rules us with such an absence of insight, that denial can quit its ‘day job’.
I have a number of friends, who, as a result of exposure to the open wound of my awareness, are fully apprised of how serious environmental collapse has become, and yet they will still have babies, or celebrate those still born to others — or better yet ‘stillborn’, which in a collapsing world more accurately hits the mark.
I’ve even had it explained to me that the right to have children is a penultimate human privilege, free from all other considerations — even though, if left unchecked, our current circumstances and the ongoing indifference that brought us here, will soon snuff out all the beautiful young ‘lights’ we overburden Gaia with.
So, while many parents, to the best of their abilities, do whatever they can to nurture and protect their offspring, the profound disconnect they suffer from is directing them to undo these best of intentions and stoke the sacrificial fire for the innocent.
The insatiable appetite they indulge, directs greater resources and attention into ‘puffing up’ the big bad wolf, than for guarding our children from him.
The fool‘s paradise is hell in drag.
