The intent, the excuse for pushing fair use, content curating mostly older works already widely shared across the internet was to add and encourage comment. Thus, satisfying a criterion of fair use. The best effort entailed tracking down attribution and providing a link to the artist where they are now. But no comment.

Artists move on, cease working, die. If the link is to wiki, they’re dead. Many artists do other creative work, performance, writing…and artists move on. New work may be drastically different from early efforts. A few artists work with multiple separate unexpectedly different character sets. And creatives will work in collaboration.

Artists flat out no holds barred ste…borrow other artist’s work. Text and all. Cartoon concepts appear again and again. Sometimes from an entirely different perspective. Cartoons appear and reappear in many languages. Text may be changed to fit the audience.

There’s much to discuss of cartoons.

It’s Thursday

This is one of several recent variation of this cartoon. It has lost resolution, color and been partially recolored. The attribution has been removed and imgflip has applied its stamp.

It’s insult humor. Specifically, the United States represented in the personage of Captain America is being mocked for its self-centered self-aggrandization. While at the same time pointing out that America is more than just the United States.

The earliest appearance found was on peoresnada.com. Originally a Spanish language cartoon host, it is now just a collection of links.

Though the original attribution is given it is illegible. The style is however recognizable.

Notably the second panel text has changed. Originally it read

“Quick, help! They're robbing the National Bank of Bolivia!!

The choice of “National Bank of Bolivia” is not accidental. It adds to the humor. Bolivian governments, of which there have been many, and Bolivian financial institution are besieged by corruption. Most especially the National Bank of Bolivia.

Huanuni is a large tin mine South of Oruro, Bolivia.

That’s it for the comments. If anyone would like to explain away or add to the humor of a cartoon, please do so in the comments.
