What if the felon loses power? With poll [1]

Recently there’s been lots of speculation about the felon’s poor health (including by me). He has not been seen much recently and has not even been posting much.
But — what happens, if he is forced to leave power? What happens to us, to the country, and to the world?
Some may consider this idle speculation or even wishful thinking. No, this is contingency planning based on non zero probabilities. We can tell the other side is preparing for this. Vance is making more appearances, sucking up to Cabinet members, and being wooed by the Russian dictator.
This crisis could prove to be an opportunity or a threat. I think we’ll do better if we prepare.
I’m just including my thoughts below. Please, add to the discussion, because many minds are better than one.
Thoughts on the matter:
1. The powers that be will prop him up as long as they can.
The felon’s family and the loyalists are in charge at the moment, and they won’t want to lose that power.
In fact, they are already doing it. The felon has not been seen much recently, so much so that the WH felt the need to put out this picture of the felon golfing.
Except, as noted in the post, that is not a picture of the felon from the weekend, but from a week ago. Here’s a picture from the weekend
x So the photos we get of the “golf outing” today is a pale and feeble looking one of him getting to a car at the WH and this one of him returning. Nothing from the course. — Ron Filipkowski (@ronfilipkowski.bsky.social) 2025-09-01T00:07:37.366Z
Because they will prop him up as long as they can, we may have more time to prepare.
2. How would he go and what does that mean for us and the country?
If the felon actually dies, I don’t think they’ll try to hide it. Of course, many will be celebrating with champagne (well, I’ll do ice cream). However, I think many who want to capture the Maga base — because it’s hard to win elections without them — they would come forward and sing his praises and demand a state funeral.
If the decline is less definitive, that’s harder. They’re already propping him up; how long can it last? As long as the felon is conscious, he won’t want to leave. And as long as he’s alive, his handlers will want him in power. But what if he’s alive, but comatose?
If Vance tries to invoke the 25th Amendment, it could cause fractures in GOP powers and maybe the Maga base. An opportunity for us?
3. Policies. Will anything change?
We’ll still have Rs with all levers of fed gov: House, Senate, WH, and SCOTUS.
This is hard to read, so I’d like speculation. Vance, people say, is a puppet of Peter Thiel, so he’s certainly partial to the needs of billionaires. So that awful bill will probably stay in place.
But I think there could be changes in certain areas. Energy, perhaps? Musk knows we need renewable energy (I’ve seen that he decided not to go 3rd party but to back Vance instead).
Tariffs? Crypto? Ukraine? Medicine? Everything else?
I really have no idea what Vance would do. He has changed so often in the past. My best guess is that he’s an opportunist and that he will want power and money, like so many other politicians do.
However, I have not studied him. I don’t think he has the star power that the felon does. I don’t know if he will be able to access the fundraising databases. I have suspected kompromat that the felon wielded on much of the GOP. Would Vance be able to access this kompromat as well?
Maybe it’s time to work harder at bringing him down as much as possible? So that honeymoon period will be as short as possible?
In the meantime, we have to let people know what we think should be done and to push back as hard as we can before he takes power.
4. The Media
Our media has exhausted me for decades, with its inability to cover multiple stories. Gods, the Monica Lewinsky scandal, the OJ Simpson case, so much about UK royal scandals, and, for the last decade, the felon. It is so aggravating. I cannot bear to listen the felon any longer, and yet I admit there’s a fascination, like ultra processed junk food that you keep eating.
If he is no longer in power, there will be vacuum. This is a real opportunity to capture the spotlight, to engage hearts as well as minds. In fact, we better aim for hearts, because too many people in this country don’t work with their brains.
A problem, of course, is that the traditional MSM is mostly owned by oligarchs. X is owned by Musk; Murdoch owns Fox; CBS has just been purchased by Ellison’s family; Bezos owns the Washington Post; Zuckerberg owns Meta/FB. You probably have more examples.
So we are at a disadvantage, but a lot of independent media has sprung up over the past few years. Support them.
5. The followers — will they stay engaged?
The Maga followers have gotten used to having a guy to worship.
Will they be angry if he goes? Disappointed?
Will they turn out if the felon is not on the ballot? My understanding is that many ballots cast in 2024 only had the presidential box filled out, showing that they were only engaged at the most superficial level.
Could this be a chance to reach out to some of them?
This is the big wild card, so see the poll below.
6. Us! What will happen to those of us who strongly disapprove?
Many on the left get up in the morning and raise our blood pressure to a functional level by thinking about how much we hate the felon and his policies.
Will we stay engaged when the felon is gone? For me, it depends on what happens. I sure don’t trust the GOP to do anything right. And the left has been cleaning up in recent special elections.

🐦 I do a lot of other writing. Newest offerings: Messing with the Myths — two books so far in this series. Older offerings: the Crow Nickels (chronicles), about crows who want to save birdkind from extinction (Hunters of the Feather). Mysteries based on Jane Austen’s novels, such as The Meryton Murders. Others based on history and Greek mythology, e.g., Jocasta: The Mother-Wife of Oedipus. All titles also available through Kindle Unlimited. Want to support me but not interested in my books? Buy one and donate to a library.
