As luck should have it, today was a day to be relatively free from labor for me. I hope it was free from labor for you and yours. Anyone want to volunteer recipes for turnips? Two of these are beets, but the bigger ones are turnips. My BLT was glorious, however.
Today the state of Colorado experienced some beautiful weather top to bottom, North to South, East to West. I was able to get out and enjoy a beautiful walk with my dogs, though my bigger dog, Shaggy, was too excited and he wanted to bark at every car, every dog and the two horses and riders he saw. I’m trying to cure him of the need to bark at everything but today he was full of joy. His sister Ginger also was pretty happy to bark as well, but she’s not the one in legal trouble.
I am getting to this column rather late. I hope you won’t mind. I have seen the news today and it seems like people in Colorado have been out enjoying the day rather than piling up crowds in the airport or on the highways. The highways like I-70 and US-285 out of the mountains weren’t that busy coming out of the mountains and down into the metro as people decided to stay late and enjoy the beautiful weather. I’m hoping people are staying late, having dinner in the mountain towns and not jamming the highways and ruining their good moods built up over the holiday weekend. One sad soul did ruin his life in the metro by getting into an argument with a construction worker who tried to get him to slow down and the 21 year old shot the construction worker. The worker managed to get a photo of the license plate of the 21 year old’s car and now the 21 year old is likely to spend years in prison for a stupid decision one beautiful morning in his car in the metro.
Speaking of stupid decisions made by people in the metro, I wonder how many of the people who were out protesting against Trump and his policies today not just in Denver but across Colorado and across the country voted for Trump in last November’s election. Fortunately the people in Colorado who made that stupid decision who voted for Trump didn’t cause Colorado’s electoral votes to go to Trump but they may have caused a couple of Colorado’s US House districts to go to Republicans if they voted Republicans down the ballot. I wonder if they connect voting for Gabe Evans or Jeff Hurd or Jeff Crank realize those Republicans voted in lockstep for Trump’s agenda, while the Democrats in Colorado’s delegation did not.
www.denverpost.com/… has a column on the march in Denver against Trump and his policies if you would like to see how Denver came out to protest today. It is a shareable link.
Also from the Denver Post and the Colorado Department of Parks and Wildlife, the latest map of the Wolf distribution in Colorado shows they have shifted to the east lately. Also, a shared link.
Many of Colorado’s wolves shift east — including into watersheds near Boulder, new map shows
I hope you enjoy your evening, don’t read too much to boil your blood, and share your thoughts down below. The floor is yours.
